James October 2013 Update

Hi -- just a quick note.

Thank you for praying for us and our ministry here in Bolivia. Sunday our ILC Church in La Paz celebrated our 23rd Anniversary. God has been so faithful over these many years. We had 400 in attendance, and Pastor Pepe Rocha gave a clear and powerful evangelistic message. Pray for much fruit that remains.

Kep & Debbie James - October 2013 Missions Focus

In 2006 under the guidance of pastor Jeff Mills the Lord directed us to begin an intensive training program for Bolivian pastors (called the Pastoral Assistant program – or PAs) to help pastors honor Christ by being true to His Scriptures in their life and ministry, in order to strengthen the church and reach the lost for Christ.

This is an urgent need for the Bolivian church, because ever since the earliest years of the gospel in Bolivia (early 1900’s) the church has tended toward syncretism, mysticism, anti-intellectualism, pragmatism, pastor/hero worship, and Andean animism – with little interest or knowledge in the Bible. The church is weak, and cults like the prosperity movement in recent years have captivated it, taking it even further away from the Bible. Many supposedly Evangelical leaders actively try to separate God’s people from reliance on God’s Word, encouraging as a replacement confidence in themselves as “apostles”, “prophets”, etc. The upshot is that the church is shockingly weak and ineffective.

Hello from Bolivia!

This is our September Update featuring the regional Equipping Servants (ESI) pastors conferences we held in Bolivia in August, and the trip we took to Paraguay to explore the possibility of starting ESI there in the future.

1. Pray for Debbie and me in our own lives that we will follow hard after Jesus -- seeking to be quick to see our own sin, repent, and grow in our dependence on the Lord – so that we will be the right kind of a humble and gentle example for pastors and church leaders, pointing them to Jesus in Bolivia, Peru, Ecuador and Mexico.

Hello from Bolivia!

This month's Update features our August ESI (Equipping Servants Pastoral Training) Conferences in Bolivia. Please pray that pastors and church leaders will be encouraged as pastor Jeff Mills (Pastoral Team -- Parkside Church, Cleveland, Ohio) speaks on the topic of "Keeping Our Eyes On Jesus" August 12-13 in Potosi, August 14-16 in La Paz, and August 22-24 in Santa Cruz -- and that as a result Jesus will be glorified.

James Family August 2013 Prayer Requests

• Pray for our pastors conferences in Bolivia with Jeff Mills, that many pastors and church leaders will be encouraged through the Bible teaching in Potosi (August 12,13), La Paz (August 14-16) and Santa Cruz (August 22-24).

• Pray for Jeff Mills’ evangelistic lunches with businessmen in La Paz and Santa Cruz, as we ask, expect and attempt great things for God during his visit to Bolivia.

• Pray for the ESI participants throughout Bolivia, Ecuador, Mexico, and Peru -- that churches will be transformed as pastors and church leaders learn to honor Christ by being true to His Word.

James June 2013 Update

Hello from Bolivia!

Thank you so much for praying for us and the work here. Things are moving ahead strongly with the training and equipping of pastors in Bolivia, Mexico, Ecuador -- and as we get off the ground in Huánuco, Peru. We have our ESI (Equipping Servants pastoral training) Module graduations June 16. Please pray that pastors and church leaders will grow deeper in their desire to love Christ with their whole heart -- with eyes fixed on Jesus and lives grounded firmly in God's Word.

James' Family April 2013 Prayer Requests

• Pray for Debbie and the team of committed women in the ILC church as they evangelize and disciple women in 2013.

• Pray for Sami and Heather working in the city of Santa Cruz in a Biblical counseling outreach to young people called Café Alfarero. They are seeing good fruit in evangelism and discipleship.
