Pastoral Residency

Aspiring Pastors & Future Missionaries

The Program

We are a Bible-based, evangelical, non-denominational church located in suburban Cleveland, Ohio. Each fall, we offer a one-year residency for pastoral and missions residents to partner with our pastoral team to care for and serve the attendees at our four church locations.

Our ideal candidates are men (graduating from undergraduate or graduate school programs) who sense that full-time pastoral ministry and/or missions may be in their future. Interested college juniors who are considering their post-graduate plans are also encouraged to apply. Potential residents are not required to have extensive pastoral or missions experience or a ministry related major to be considered.

This residency offers opportunities to practice Biblical teaching in a variety of ministry settings, observe and assist in the leadership of adult and youth ministries, and participate in our pastoral staff meetings, general church functions, and more. This program provides a year of practical experience, as well as guidance for young men to discern God’s call for their lives.

Compensation includes full-time pay, full benefits, housing assistance and paid tuition and books for seminary classes at the Trinity Evangelical Divinity School -- Hudson Extension.

The Goals

Our goal is to see young men gain further clarity in their understanding of full-time ministry through growth in character, conviction, competence, calling, and appreciation of a Christ-centered church's culture.

Character: Establishing a godly discipline of Bible study and prayer so that one's deepening walk with Jesus Christ will nurture an increasing faithfulness in ministry.

Conviction: Developing a deeper understanding of the sufficiency of Scripture, the cross of Christ, and the purpose of the Church.

Competence: Observing and performing specific ministry duties throughout a broad range of ministry environments.

Call: Evaluating the call of God for full-time gospel vocational gospel service through spiritual, ministerial, educational and personal development.

Culture: Developing an understanding for Parkside Church’s culture and what it means to develop a Christ-centered culture in a church.
