James Family July 2015 Update
We thank the Lord for your partnership in ministry with us. I have a quick story to tell you about how encouraged we are watching God transform lives across Latin America as people study the Bible.
Two weeks ago we had our Equipping Servants (ESI) pastoral training graduation. We do these graduations every semester. We had 350 people attend in La Paz. Since beginning ESI in 2002 we have never had success impacting any of the the "prosperity churches". But some of our newer ESI leaders have close relationships with some of these groups. The largest group in La Paz has 15,000 members. Last year their leadership team agreed to study the Bible with us.
Several leaders of this church approached me after our graduation and said, "In studying Romans 1-4 over the past six months, we came to the realization that we were not even believers. We had been relying on our own works-righteousness, and we came to faith in Christ, trusting in His righteousness to save us. The Lord has set a new direction in our lives and in our church, a direction of grace, and we will not go back to the lies we believed in before".
This church has asked us to disciple their 20-30 year old members -- about 300 people. That they would even think to request this is astonishing to us. Please pray for wisdom as we consider how to train them to do this on the basis of God's Word.
Keep praying that the Lord will allow us to expand the influence of the gospel around Latin America helping pastors and churches honor Christ by being true to His Scriptures, to reach the lost for Christ!
