  • Touch a life...Become a Hospice Volunteer.

Hospice is a philosophy of care, not a place. We care for our patients wherever they call home. As a vital part of our team volunteers come from all walks of life, and have a variety of skills, talents and abilities.

Opportunities to serve are diverse: visit patients and families to provide companionship, socialization, and comfort, help with legacy work, transportation, light housework, meal preparation, run errands, make phone calls, help with clerical work, attend health fairs, make a presentation. Volunteers with specialized professional qualifications and training are also needed: attorneys, licensed hair dressers, massotherapists, pet therapy dogs and their handlers.

  • 2017 Christmas Benevolence Project Thank You

We would like to sincerely thank you those who volunteered with the Parkside Church Christmas Benevolence Project in December, 2017. The Christmas Project has changed over time and 2017 was a year of expansion. Since you were a volunteer, we want to give you a sense of the scale and impact of your investment. In doing so, we hope you will be encouraged by how God worked through the church and be encouraged to participate again in the future.

What is the Christmas Benevolence Project?

The project originated from our partnership with Scranton Road Bible Church and our children’s ministry, helping children involved with the Good News Kids program at Scranton. It has evolved and expanded to a church wide project and now encompasses much more.

The Christmas Benevolence Project has three main areas of focus:

    1. Cleveland: Partnering with Scranton Road Bible Church & Building Hope in the City to help Cleveland families and children in need.

    2. Communities around Parkside Church: Partnering with local agencies & school districts to help families in need in the communities surrounding Parkside Church.

    3. Parkside Church Families: Assisting families within the Parkside Church congregation who are financially struggling and can use help & encouragement.

How did the Christmas Benevolence Project address those three focus areas in 2017?

  • Tax Preparation Volunteers Needed

United Way Services of Geauga County is partnering with Geauga County’s AARP Tax Aide program in an effort to help provide more area residents with tax preparation assistance this upcoming tax season. Last year the program was able to help over 770 people by preparing and filing their taxes for them. In Ohio, that is a savings of $256 in tax preparation costs alone. This doesn’t include deductions and credits the volunteer tax preparers often find that previously were overlooked.

We are looking for more volunteers in 2018 so we can help more people. Help out your friends and neighbors here in Geauga County by providing a valuable resource and helping people keep money in their pockets!

  • Thanksgiving Box Project Thank You!

Thanks to each person who donated to our 2017 Thanksgiving Box Project. We were able to collect 390 boxes and raise more than enough money to purchase all the turkeys needed. Thank you also to all those who helped deliver the boxes. We appreciate your generosity!
