June 22, 2018

On June 22nd, the day after the Summer Solstice and the longest day of the year, volunteers in Geauga County will take action to help improve lives in our community. Local residents, families, and organizations will participate in projects that support the health and well being of people in our community who are struggling to fulfill their basic needs. The Day of Action mirrors the work that United Way does year-round: empowering people to affect positive change in their own backyards, and across the world.

Help Feed Your Community!

Through an extensive study of Geauga County we know that 25% of the households in our community are struggling to fulfill their basic needs. This means housing, childcare, transportation, and even food needs are not being met. On United Way's Day of Action, we are focusing on these Food Insecure households by creating food sources in the form of community gardens and providing food directly to those who need it the most by packaging up meals and distributing to seniors, families, and children.
