About the Harrington Family

Chris and Leanne Harrington work with SEND International in the greater Sendai Japan area. Sendai is the capital city of Miyagi Prefecture, Japan, and the largest city in the T?hoku region with a population of over 1 million. Sendai was the closest major city to the epicenter of the earthquake on March 11, 2011. We will be heading to Japan in February of 2015 to begin our first term (4 years). They will be going along with their three children, Mark (5), Lillia (4) and Claire (2).

For the last 8 ½ years we have been blessed as a family to attend Parkside church. Chris has been on staff as a missionary in training for 3 ½ of those years. During this time he has been prepared through Seminary training and ministry opportunities among the Parkside church family. While at Parkside the church leadership has confirmed the call of ministry for Chris and shared in the desire to reach Japan for the glory of God.

For the first 2 years we will be spending most of our time learning the language and culture of Japan. During this time we will be attending Shiogama Bible Baptist Church (SBBC) for orientation to Japanese church life. The church will then become where they intern at for the final two years of their first term. This through God’s providence happens to be the same church Chris was able to take supplies to during his time of relief work after the earthquake on March 11, 2011. Our goal during the first 4 years in Japan will be to learn the language and establish relationships with those in our community. All of this with the overarching goal of seeing unbelieving people become committed followers of Jesus Christ in Japan.
