  • Parkside Short-term Team Update

Just a quick note to let you know that the dental team was a great success! The team worked well together. Each individual stepped up in their own way and made things run smoothly. I guess they call that synergy. It was great to see it happen over such a short period of time.

Pedro and Gavino were thrilled at the way the team interacted with the people in Colonia de Jesus. The few Christians who were facing persecution there were encouraged. Pray that the love that was shown to the people will open hearts to the Gospel and allow the Christians to meet together without opposition.

Friday we saw 97 patients in a local prison. We pray that this will keep the doors open for evangelism there. We did not identify any major problems with the planning and organization.

  • Ross January 2012 Prayer Requests

    - Please pray for the Parkside Dental Team trip to Oaxaca January 7-15. Pray for good health and safety in travel. Pray that God will prepare hearts in Barranca Obscura (Dark Canyon) to receive the Good News as we meet physical needs. Pray that all the technical equipment needed to work in this remote town will work well during our trip.

    - Praise as Alas de Socorro (MAF) celebrates 50 years as a legal entity in Mexico. Pray that the celebration planned for January 7th would bring glory and honor to Jesus Christ. Please join us in giving thanks to God for his goodness.

  • Ross New Year's Greetings

    Dear Friends,

We can hardly believe that 2011 is almost behind us. WOW! It looks like 2012 will begin with plenty of activity too.

Saturday, January 7th we will be celebrating as a team the 65th anniversary of MAF's work in Mexico. We will also be celebrating the 50th anniversary of the founding of Alas de Socorro (our national entity). It is very unusual for a non-profit to survive this long in Mexico, so it really is something to celebrate. We will begin with a ceremony at the airport with numerous officials and then move the celebration out to Mitla (45 minutes away) where our hanger is located. In Mitla we will have a service of thanksgiving followed by a dinner. Please pray that these activities will bring honor and glory to God and spark interest in the gospel in the hearts of those at the airport who do not know Him.

Our faithful Parkside Church dentists and their team will also be arriving the evening of Jan. 7th.  We are so pleased that they will be here again to minister to a community in Amoltepec. The local

  • Ross Family December 2011 Update

    Dear Friends,

With Thanksgiving behind us and Christmas just a few weeks away it seems appropriate for us to mention a few of the things we are thankful for.

First and foremost, we are thankful that God sent his only son to die for us that we might be saved.

We are also thankful for family, friends and churches who generously support us in our work here in Mexico.

We thank God daily for sons who know and love him. Watching them grow into Godly men is a real privilege.

Five happy and healthy grandchildren have to be on the list too.

We are thankful for our government contract to bring patients out to the hospital. This is taking our planes and pilots into new airstrips and providing new contacts for possible ministry.

  • Ross Family December 2011 Prayer Requests

Please continue to pray that five year permits will be issued by the Mexican government for the airstrips we use. Pray for wisdom and safety as we face an increased demand for flights in December.

Pray that the flights we do each day will help foster relationships which will allow us open doors to share the Gospel. Pray for the MAF team which have been invited to visit Amoltepec this month.

Mike and Joan have been given the opportunity to lead a cell group Bible study. Pray for wisdom as they prepare to share with a group of new Christians and unbelieving friends they invite.

Pray for all those participating in ESI groups as the Fall semester is coming to an end and special projects are due. Pray that Edgar and Neri will be an encouragement to all those who participate.

  • Ross Family November 2011 Update

    Dear Partners,

October was a very special month for us. We were blessed with our fifth grandchild, Payton Ann who was born on the 19th. She was 7 lbs. 15 oz. and 20 inches. Ben & Andy are the proud parents along with siblings, Alex & Rylan.

Mike was able to renew his Mexican pilot license in early October. It was a lengthy process including two separate trips out of the State of Oaxaca. A close Mexican friend drove Mike on a twelve-hour round trip to Veracruz where he got his new license. Thank you for your prayers.

We had a busy month flying. Among all the flights we did there was one that was extra special. Mike flew 12-year old Sarita back home after she had been hospitalized for two years suffering from epilepsy. Her father Pedro is one of the faithful Pastors working in Amoltepec. Please pray for Pedro & Sarita.

  • Ross Family November 2011 Prayer Requests

Praise for the safe arrival of our new granddaughter Payton Ann. Pray for safe travel for Joan as she visits with family in the Cleveland area the first two weeks of November.

Pray for Mike as he travels to Guatemala to fly with our MAF pilots there while Joan is in Cleveland.

Pray for Edgar, Neri and Mike as they study Hebrews together. Pray that their schedules will allow them to meet together every week. Pray that as the ESI groups study together each participant will be encouraged as they study God's Word.

  • Ross Grand-baby Update

Our newest grandchild arrived this morning. Peyton Ann Ross was born at 6:13 a.m., weighed 7 lbs 15 oz and was 20" long. Her parents are Ben & Andy. We are very excited and I can't wait to meet her in a couple of weeks.
