Mark & Patti September 2025 Update

Our bags were packed, we were ready to go!

Like John Denver's song, we were ready to leave on a jet plane. Then, out of the blue Delta informed us that our passports were not valid. What?!

It turns out that Peru, like some other countries, now requires a full six months left on one's passport in order to be admitted into the country. It doesn't matter if you only plan to stay a few weeks. It was so unexpected that we found ourselves grinning. Wow! God has so many ways to redirect and guide his children. This one was pretty obvious!

Thankfully, we haven't lost anything in the process except being with the Panatawa Quechua team in person. We have cameras and mics set up so Mark can work with them virtually.

Here they are, already at work on day one. Mark has his white Quechua scarf on because his office was cold this morning! (It was 49 degrees out!)

Praise and Prayer Requests

* Praise that the C4 workshop that met in August successfully did their first formal comprehension checking with people from the community. They didn't get quite as far as they hoped, but, that's OK.

* Praise for the gracious hand of God allowing us to be reimbursed for deposits we'd made or for allowing us to reschedule our tickets for getting up into the mountains from Lima when our travels were abruptly halted.

* Pray for Mark and the Panatawa Quechua team, meeting September 1st through the 12th. They hope to check Judges, 1 Samuel and 2 Samuel 1-13 with people who didn’t work on the translation. Pray for good understanding, good progress, and clear communication even as Mark has to work with them from Ohio.

Thank you for your encouragement as God enables us to continue on.
