A building for the church

The Quechua speaking believers that meet in Pichipampa, just 30 minutes or so outside of Huanuco, dedicated their new church. Mark cut the ribbon and spoke for the occasion, teaching Saturday evening, and again Sunday morning. The rain on the tin roof made it hard to hear him sometimes, but it wasn’t much of a deterrent to the 11-piece band. Imagine the celebration accompanied by the exuberant sounds of four trumpets, three baritones, a saxophone and three drummers (a snare drum, bass drum and a drum set) all within a small building!

I Corinthians for all

The first half of the year Patti is teaching the book of 1 Corinthians to the women’s group at the local Spanish speaking church we attend when in town. With a wide range of abilities among the women, she looks for creative ways to present biblical truth. Recently when covering chapter 3, she made a coloring page to help those who are illiterate remember comparisons and points that Paul makes. Those who can read and write help the others fill in the few blanks so family members will know what the page is about. One participant with some Bible school training was encouraging when she said that looking at the background and key themes really helps.

Praises and Prayer Requests

  • Praise: With God’s help this month there are three new green squares (Proverbs, Ecclesiastes, and Song of Solomon) and three new dark green squares (2 John, 3 John, and Jude) in the chart below.
  • Pray: Note the new chart at the very bottom of the page. It fills in as the days rush by this year, showing the time we have left working with the men from each language area. Thanks for praying for all of us as we press on to the goal of finishing together by the end of the year.
  • Pray: Tuesday after Easter (April 7th) another translation workshop begins in Huánuco. Once again please pray for safe travels for the participants, careful attention to detail by all, few distractions, gung-ho spirits, and good progress in all five dialects.

A very joyous Easter to each of you! Christ has risen!
