FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 13:
7:30 pm Retelling The Christian Story: C.S. Lewis's The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe
Bring the family for dessert and Lewis! Dr. Markos provides his dramatic retelling of The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe. Afterward, Dr. Markos will explain the deeper meanings behind Lewis's tale.
SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 14:
11:00 am Virtue In The Chronicles Of Narnia
Dr. Markos shows The Chronicles of Narnia embody an understanding of classical and theological virtues, virtues we need to restore to the rightful place at the center of education.
12:00 pm Lunch (Included in cost)
1:00 pm C.S. Lewis And The Tao
Markos focuses on the arguments Lewis makes for the existence of a universal moral code to argue for the existence of God. He then shows how Lewis moves from Theism to Christianity.
2:00 pm Men Without Chests: The Dangers Of A Values-Free Education
In The Abolition of Man, Lewis discusses what happens when society abandons its duty to educate its children in accordance with fixed moral/ethical standards. Dr. Markos shows how a values-free approach to education kills virtue, wonder, and courage.

About the Speaker:
Louis Markos (www.Loumarkos.com), Professor in English & Scholar in Residence at Houston Baptist University, holds the Robert H. Ray Chair in Humanities; he is author of The Life and Writings of C.S. Lewis, Lewis Agonistes: How CSL Can Train Us to Wrestle with the Modern and Psotmodern World, Restoring Beauty: The Good, the True, and the Beautiful in the Writings of CSL, Apologetics for the 21st Century, A to Z with CSL, and On the Shoulders of Hobbits: The Road to Virtue with Tolkien and Lewis. His C.S. Lewis: An Apologist for Education was just released by Classical Academic Press as part of a new series: Giants in the History of Education.
