The Parkside Insider: November 11, 2022
Today, I am reading Paul’s letter to Philemon, and I am challenged by his tone, especially as he is writing from prison! He informs Philemon that he is thankful for him and at the same time prayerful and joyful. It is clear that Paul is practicing what he preaches, having encouraged the Thessalonians to “be joyful always; pray continually; give thanks in all circumstances."

The celebration of Thanksgiving provides us with an opportunity to remind ourselves that every good and perfect gift comes to us from our heavenly Father, who doesn’t change like shifting shadows. This year, some of our friends will be painfully aware of the absence of a loved one whom God has taken to himself. Let us resolve to do our best in seeking to comfort and encourage them.

Last Week's Sermon
Romans 1:18

The wrath of God is an uncomfortable topic that many prefer to avoid. Yet it is only when we understand God’s righteous judgment against sin that we can truly face our predicament as sinners and see our dire need for a Savior. Alistair Begg explains that the cross of Christ is all that stands between us and God’s wrath—and therefore, the salvation provided in the gospel is the need of every person in the entire world.
