Three Book Recommendations for Christmas

We'd love to recommend three books to you during the Christmas season. We hope that you'll read one, give a copy to a friend, and talk about it over coffee or a meal. We trust that these will be a great encouragement for someone who is considering the connection between Christ and Christmas for the first time or coming again to the wonder and truth of Jesus. 

1. Child in the Manger, by Sinclair Ferguson 
We've chosen one book from our friend, Sinclair Ferguson. Alistair says it's the best book he's read on the Christmas story. It's a fantastic book that will help you enjoy Christmas in a new way!

2. Prepare Him Room: Celebrating the Birth of Jesus Family Devotional, by Marty Machowski
Our second book is meant specifically for families and young children. Machowski has written a lovely book which is purposefully oriented around daily advent readings so you can sit down each day with friends or family while purposefully and expectantly preparing for Christmas.

3. Christmas Playlist, by Alistair Begg
This book connects the Biblical songs of Christ to the modern songs that you and I associate with Christmas favorites. It's a great little book to give to a neighbor, friend or co-worker.

Christmas Concert Volunteers
We are looking for approximately 40 volunteers to serve at each Christmas concert, passing out programs, greeting, scanning tickets, and helping people to their seats. If you can serve at one of the concerts Dec 7-10, please sign up today! Thank you to those who have already volunteered. 

Missions Table with Amy Cottle
Stop by the Missions Table in the hallway outside The Venue this Sunday morning and greet Amy Cottle, here on Home Assignment from Thailand. You may also pick up a December Missions Prayer Calendar and photos and information from all of our missionaries.

Cancer Support Christmas Lunch
Cancer patients, survivors, and their families are invited to join us for a Christmas lunch on Dec. 3 at 12:30 pm in Room B020/B021. Main dishes and beverages will be provided. Bring a salad, side dish or dessert to share. RSVP to Bill at wpurdon@gmail.com.

Play Groups
All moms and caregivers of children, birth-5 years of age, are invited to join us for a time of fun and relationship-building at Play Groups on Dec. 12. Play Groups meets on the first floor of the Children’s Wing from 10-11:30am. We encourage everyone to bring your own lunch and wrap up the morning by eating lunch with the others in Room A113.

Christmas Benevolence Project
Parkside desires to share the joy of Christmas with families in need, both in the Cleveland area and in our surrounding community, by purchasing essentials and Christmas gifts for these families. Young Family Play Day
Families with at least one child under 7 are invited to our Young Family Play Day on Jan. 13, 4-7pm, at the Warehouse. There will be inflatables for older kids and a soft play area for toddlers. We will provide pizza, juice boxes and water and ask that you bring a side dish to share.

Chris and Leanne Harrington in Japan
Some of Leanne’s friends asked if there was a way for them to be able to learn English. The Harrington’s church is providing the curriculum and building for this new English class to meet. Pray the Holy Spirit will work in the lives of these ladies. Pray for their eyes to be opened through God’s word and through their time together.
