The Light of the World
From Genesis to Revelation, the Bible uses light to portray a variety of things. From God’s character to truth and guidance, light in the Bible is a life-giving visual. In this sermon on John 8, we see Jesus’ dramatic declaration that He is the light of the world and that whoever is in Him will never walk in darkness. In response, the Pharisees leveled a severe accusation against Jesus, that He was blaspheming God by elevating himself to the level of God. Finally, the Scriptures show a divine validation for Jesus’ claim. All who know Jesus will know the light of salvation.
