  • A Note from the Leadership Team about this Sunday

When we initially introduced the vision for Parkside’s future back in January we thought it best to set aside three 60-day periods to specifically focus on this vision as a church family. The first 60 days we devoted ourselves to prayer for God’s wisdom and leading. Followed by 60 days to individually pray and consider how we all may prayerfully and financially support the vision. Currently, we are taking 60 days to thank God for all He has done and will do through Parkside Church. We are thankful for how He has been merciful and gracious to us over the many years but especially in these last six months.

  • Book Recommendation: Humilitas

In his new book, Humilitas: A Lost Key to Life, Love, and Leadership, Dr. Dickson sets forth his thesis that true greatness and genuine fulfillment can only be achieved by recognizing the virtue of true humility. By defining humility as "holding power loosely for the sake of others," Dr. Dickson posits that humility is essential for turning one's gifts and strengths into true greatness in all areas of life.

  • Christianity Explored

Among the core goals for Parkside’s vision for the future is the development of gospel relationships for gospel growth. Earlier this month, Basics Conference guest speakers, John Dickson and Rico Tice, reminded us that we are all called to do the work of an evangelist, speaking the truth in love, growing up into Christ and being multiplied.

  • Book Recommendation: Unbroken

Unbroken is, in a word, amazing - easily one of the best books I read in 2010. It is written by Laura Hillenbrand who also penned Seabiscuit. This new book shot straight to #2 on the New York Times list of bestsellers just days after its release.

Over these past 15 years we’ve heard the music of Fernando Ortega as if it were the soundtrack to our lives. We met this extraordinary artist though his early music, which danced to guitars and drums, fueled by the energy of youth yet crafted to the highest standards of pop composition, comparable in its vision and quality to the best of Peter Gabriel and Paul Simon.

  • Not too Cool for School

On different mornings at different high schools, groups of teenagers are meeting before class at 7:00 a.m. to study the Bible, pray, and develop relationships with other students. The group that meets is called the Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA), "but you don't have to be an athlete to attend," explains, Meagan (pronounced MAY-gen) Crowl, 17 who plays on the golf team and is a junior at Solon High School. "It was just easier to keep the name because it was already an existing group," adds Meagan.
