High School Students
Short-Term International Missions Trip
It is our pattern as a youth ministry to embark on a short-term international missions trip every two years. In 2013, we took a group of students and adult leaders to Oaxaca, Mexico, where we spent time with Mike and Joan Ross, two of our Parkside missionaries. This year, June 4-14, we are heading to Musselburgh, Scotland in partnership with Graham Shearer and Musselburgh Baptist Church. The purpose of this trip is to provide our students with an opportunity to serve people and worship together with other believers in a foreign culture. While we are in Scotland, the students will engage in various service projects throughout the city, they will observe and participate in the church services and weekly activities of the church, and we will also spend some time exploring the city.
We are making this opportunity available to all of our high school students, however, the spots for this trip are limited and upperclassmen will be given preference as we assemble our team. Students must fill out an application and return it to Dan by Sunday, February 15th. You can click here to download the application.
The cost of the trip is not set in stone, but we estimate that the students will have to raise around $2,000.00. The students will be responsible for raising these funds through the means of support letters and fundraising. However, we do not want the cost of this trip to deter any of our students from attending. We will assist the students through the support letter writing process as well as provide them the opportunity to receive the missions scholarships that our elders have made available for these trips. If your student is interested in this trip, we encourage them to fill out an application and we will work through the financial aspect of the trip together.
Please feel free to email Dan with any questions you might have. Please continue to pray for our youth ministry, our leaders, and our students as we prepare for this trip in the months ahead.
