Sexual Identity, Hope, and the Gospel Seminar

The late G. K. Chesterton famously wrote over eighty years ago, "These are the days when the Christian is expected to praise every creed except his own."  How true his words are for us today!  As culture has embraced homosexuality and same-sex relationships, many Christians feel pressured to re-evaluate their beliefs and embrace a more inclusive posture in order to be tolerant and loving.  What exactly does the Bible say about homosexuality and same-sex relationships?  Can we trust in God's word to guide and shape how we think about this issue?  How can believers who hold to a traditional view of sexuality maintain their convictions with compassion, yet without compromise?

Join us on March 1 with Pastor Jonathan Holmes to understand this important issue from a biblical perspective and to equip you for wise and compassionate conversations.  

The workshop will be held at Parkside Church main campus in The Venue from 6:30-9pm. There is no charge but a reservation is requested.  Childcare is not provided for this event.

Embracing Family November 2017 Fellowship Luncheon

The Embracing Family ministry will hold a fellowship luncheon on November 19th at 12:30pm in room A207.  All families who have adopted or who are interested in adoption or foster care are welcome to attend.  Lunch will be provided and children are welcome.  Please RSVP to Linn at lnash@parksidechurch.com

Marriage conference with Paul Tripp November 2017

Join Paul Tripp as he redeems the realities of marriage in this weekend conference. Learn how a marriage of unity, understanding, and love is rooted in worship. Over the course of five sessions, this event will be held in the Auditorium at Parkside Church on November 3rd from 7-9:15pm and November 4th from 9am-12:15pm. All participants are encouraged to bring their Bibles with them to the conference.

The cost is $30 per couple or $15 per person and registration is required.  Please note that childcare has closed and is no longer available.

Gender Identity Seminar

On Thursday, September 21st, Pastor Jonathan Holmes will be leading a conversation regarding gender identity issues and their relationship to Christian hope and charity.  Attention will be given to a biblical understanding of gender and how to approach the issue in a Christ-centered, culturally-informed manner.  The workshop will be held at Parkside Church main campus in the Venue from 6:30-9pm.  There is no charge but a reservation is requested.  Childcare is not provided for this event.

Marriage Strengthening Support Group

Fieldstone Counseling will be hosting a marriage support group this summer led by Dr. Steve and Sue Moroney on Thursday evenings beginning June 1st.  The group will run for 5 weeks from 7-8:30pm in Room 98.  The cost is $90 and includes a $35 "Prepare and Enrich" marriage assessment.  Space is limited to 9 couples (non-Parkside couples are welcomed to attend); childcare is not provided.

Iron Sharpens Iron February 2017 Addiction Seminar

Anyone is welcome to join us for a special Iron Sharpens Iron meeting on February 23rd, 6:30-8:30pm in Room A222/A224.  There will be special addiction related presentation by Dave Dunham who serves as Pastor of Counseling and Discipleship at Cornerstone Baptist Church where he also directs a biblically-based addiction recovery ministry.

What are creative ways to draw from literature, arts, sciences, and pop culture to bear fruit in the personal ministry of the Word? In what diverse ways can sound theology find expression in counseling? How might a biblical counselor use the world in which they live to bring scriptural truth to life in the minds of others?

We'll look at these questions at our next Iron Sharpens Iron meeting on Thursday, January 26 from 6:30-8:30pm in Room A222 at Parkside Church Bainbridge.

2017 Dates to Know

This next year we will not be offering How People Change or Helping Others Change workshops at Parkside Church. However, training will be offered by Pastor Jonathan Holmes at The Chapel in Akron on January 14 and at Parkside Church Westside on March 18.

On February 17-18, Cornerstone Community Church is offering a "Redeeming the Gift: God's Design for Sexuality" conference for parents, counselors, and youth and children's ministry workers. Find more information or register at http://cornerstonemayfield.org/events/conferences. 

On March 19, Parkside Church Lake County will be holding a discussion on gender and transgender issues.
