Shaped by the Gospel: Baptism
Baptism is a sign and seal of our union with Christ. In Romans 6, Paul presents baptism as a picture of burial, birth, and belonging. Believers die with Christ—being freed from sin’s enslaving power, and are then raised with him to walk in newness of life—sharing in his victorious resurrection. Through baptism, we are also incorporated into the household of grace under Christ’s lordship. While baptism does not save, it confirms God’s promise that those united to Christ by faith are justified, sanctified, and assured of eternal life in him.
