Praise and Princes
Though we are often tempted to put our trust in people of power and influence, Psalm 146 reminds believers that the Lord alone is worthy of praise. What we praise reveals who we trust. God has set his love upon his people, redeeming those who trust in him and declaring them righteous. Unlike earthly princes who die and cannot save, Jesus died in order to save. He takes our sin upon himself so that everyone who trusts in him is saved, and we can affirm the psalmist's sentiments as we declare, "All my life I intend to praise the Lord."
