Perfect Sacrifice of a Better Covenant — Part One
Christ is the all-sufficient sacrifice. Old Testament law provided a system of repeated sacrifices. Offered through high priests, these sacrifices provided temporary atonement for sin so that individuals would be ceremonially clean and able to participate in worship. At the cross, however, Jesus acted as both the Great High Priest and the perfect sacrifice. His greater work of atonement provides believers with direct access to God, complete forgiveness of all sins for all time, and the blessing of a clear conscience.
