The Lord of Unchanging Love
In the opening of the book of Malachi, God declares his unfailing love for his people. Rather than responding with thankfulness and devotion, Israel questions God's love, and misunderstands the nature of his discipline. God’s discipline is a sign of his love. He disciplines his children because it is good for them. God's posture towards his people is always one of love. Even when we endure consequences or trials, even when we don’t feel loved, God's love for us never changes—“The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; his mercies never come to an end….”
