From Envy to Contentment

Asaph, in Psalm 73, wrestles with envy as he watches the wicked prosper. Struggling to trust God’s goodness, Asaph brings his turmoil before the Lord. God, in his wisdom, lifts Asaph’s gaze so he can see by faith into eternity. As God reorients his heart, Asaph is reminded of God's covenant faithfulness. Likewise, as we learn to treasure God himself, and rest in his sovereign plan, we can declare along with Asaph, “Whom have I in heaven but you?”
