The Enduring Christian
In 2 Timothy 2, Paul exhorts Timothy to find strength not in himself, but in the grace that is in Christ Jesus. Contrary to the world’s message of self-reliance, the believer endures suffering by relying entirely on God’s sustaining grace. Paul urges believers to look to Jesus, who conquered sin and death on our behalf. God’s grace is not dependent on us—He remains faithful to his promises even when we are faithless. Therefore, in Christ, believers can endure, because he endured for us, and his grace will never fail.
