Expanded Support for Parkside Missionaries
"And he said to them, “Go into all the world and proclaim the gospel to the whole creation." Mark 16:15
Recently the leadership at Parkside Church has recognized a way to expand our missions reach. While our primary pattern has been, and will continue to be, developing and sustaining full-time missionaries under the Parkside umbrella, we see an opportunity to support some in our church who are serving in full-time ministry with other organizations. As part of a three-year trial, we will be providing pastoral care, as well as $5000 per year, to five Parkside family members who are already engaged in ministry or missions work:
Meet Amy Cottle
Serving with Overseas Missionary Fellowship; leaving for Thailand February 8th
I will be serving a 5-year missionary term in Thailand with OMF (Overseas Missionary Fellowship) International. The vision of OMF is to see an indigenous, biblical church movement in each people group of East Asia, evangelizing their own people, and reaching out in mission to other peoples. I will be using my gifts to teach English as a means to build relationships, disciple believers, and plant churches in communities unreached by the gospel. I will leave on February 8th for Singapore for a one-month orientation, and then fly to Bangkok, Thailand, on March 8th. The first year of my term will be concentrated on learning the Thai language and culture in Lopburi, Thailand, and during that time I will meet with other OMF missionaries around Thailand to determine what team I will join and where I will serve for 3 years. My fifth year will be on home assignment in the USA. You can keep in touch by following my blog: amycottle.wordpress.com.
We also want to take this opportunity to let you know that Amy Cottle has recently finished raising her support and will be leaving for Thailand on February 8th. Please pray that she is able to pack up and buy the things she will need. Also, please pray for her flight to Singapore on February 8th, her orientation there, and her flight to Bangkok on March 9th to serve with Overseas Mission Fellowship.
Meet Emily Bean
Serving with Bridges International at the University of Tennessee – a part of CRU
“Reaching the nations here that we may reach the nations there.”
I am currently serving with Bridges International at the University of Tennessee, and have the great privilege of connecting with international students from around the world. We want to come alongside students and introduce them to Christ, build them up in their faith, and send them back to their home countries equipped to influence others for Christ. My week consists of meeting with students for investigative Bible studies, discipling believers, and building relationships with students off campus through activities, trips, dinners, and living life together. We also help connect interested international students to local families and churches.
Meet Brian (& Maria) Walls
Serving with Youth for Christ
I’ve been the Ministry Director for the Greater Cleveland Youth for Christ for the last 7 years or so. Youth for Christ (YFC) seeks to reach young people everywhere, working together with the local church and other like-minded partners to raise up lifelong followers of Jesus. As director, my duties vary a lot, but all of my efforts are focused on setting up YFC staff and volunteers to be successful in their ministry interactions from recruiting and training staff members and volunteers to caring for the office and ministry vehicles. I also meet with local pastors, youth leaders, and local outreach groups to help them with programming, curriculum, and using our tools. I’m also currently taking seminary classes and serve as Chaplain with the Lake County Captains.
Meet Matt (& Laura) Pheneger
Serving with Ambassadors Football (formerly known as Ambassadors In Sport)
I serve as the U.S. Director for Ambassadors Football whose mission is to communicate the good news of Jesus to all people through football (soccer). Ambassadors Football is based here in the U.S., and we are privileged to have a global impact working in over 20 countries. Locally we are focused on 3 areas of ministry: club, camps, and community. In addition to praying for and implementing ministry plans, I am blessed to invest in, develop, and engage with our staff in Northeast Ohio, Pittsburgh, the Pacific Northwest, and those who serve with us on short term projects.
We are also supporting a 5th individual who has requested to remain anonymous due to security concerns in the countries to which he is ministering.
Please pray for each of them as they endeavor to see unbelieving people become committed followers of Jesus Christ in their respective ministries.
