Equipping Servants (ESI) in Uruguay
Last August we met Uruguayan pastors who invited us to come to Montevideo to start ESI ministry. In April we invited SIM Uruguay director Andres Corrales and Pastor Aldo Fernandez to La Paz for ESI training. These are godly men who have a passion to see a stronger church in their spiritually needy area of South America. We discovered that our hearts sync in the same direction, believing the best way to accomplish this is engaging pastors in the study of God’s Word in the context of committed Biblical friendships.
Andres and Aldo plan to start ESI later this year in Montevideo. Pray for them as they select participants. Pray that the Lord will give Andres and Aldo wisdom to invite the right pastors and church leaders who will experience personal transformation, and be able to help others grow in Christ.
Gospel impact in Bolivia
I wish you could meet Pastor Bores. He serves on the pastoral team of Bolivia’s largest church (25,000 members). Four years ago Bores entered ESI seeking to know the Bible better. While digging into Romans he became confronted with the person and work of Christ in a way he hadn’t known, This led to a genuine transformation, away from prosperity theology and into a committed relationship with Christ by grace thru faith on the basis of Christ’s righteousness.
Bores is director of his church’s seminary and has gotten permission to teach books of the Bible rather than prosperity DVDs that before filled their curriculum. Last week while visiting a class Bores asked me to teach, I discovered that God is using him to impact 1200 students each week with the truth of God’s Word! Bores is one of our 2016 Pastoral-Assistant volunteers.
Please Pray:
* Equipping Servants pastoral training —that the 700 active participants and 1505 graduates since 2002 will know the sufficiency of Christ & His Word and give themselves to discipling believers and reaching the lost.
* 14 Pastoral Assistant Volunteers: intensive 2 year training to equip pastors in Bolivia.
* Equipping Servants Expansion: we hope to establish training centers across Latin American and Africa. Pray for God’s provision of Pastor Book Sets for the 2500 pastors we hope to impact in the next 5 years.
* Family: Andrew & Angie are growing thru Parkside’s Missionary Training as they prepare to do church planting in Uruguay. Katie is seeing gospel impact in her work at the Cleveland Clinic. Sami & Heather are developing a Biblical Counseling ministry in La Paz, and she is expecting child #2.
