Career Connections Workshop

For many, the idea of beginning or changing a career is accompanied by a great deal of uncertainty.

I’m just starting out—how will I know the best career for me? I’ve been raising children—how can I get a job without recent outside work experience? I’ve lost my job and have to find something quickly—how is God going to provide when it all looks so overwhelming?

Our situations may look different, but the process behind finding work can be more straightforward than it would first appear, and you don’t have to navigate it without help. If you, or someone you know, is looking for a job or looking to change careers, please join us for this free, full-day workshop on Saturday, October 6 from 8am - 4:30pm.

We will discuss biblically-based, practical information on all of the following:

  • Choosing the best career for you
  • Crafting a great resume and cover letter
  • Developing a network of professional contacts
  • Finding out about openings and pursuing leads
  • Understanding interview dynamics
  • Trusting God’s provision during your transition

Check-in and a continental breakfast will begin at 8:00 am. The first session begins at 8:25. Lunch will also be provided. After the workshop, we will have additional, targeted follow-up sessions that will be held on weeknights.

All are welcome to attend to this free workshop!

Song Spotlight

Every so often, we’ll introduce you to new songs through the Insider. Last week, we learned “Grace,” by CityAlight, and we anticipate singing this song in the upcoming weeks. For your encouragement and as a help to you in learning the song, we’ve included the video for you here.

Safe Families for Children Information Luncheon

Embracing Family is Parkside’s orphan care ministry and we are teaming up with Cleveland’s chapter of Safe Families for Children with an informational luncheon on Sept. 23 following the third service. If you are considering how you can care for vulnerable children in your immediate community, then we encourage you to attend the meeting and pray about the possibility of partnering with Safe Families for Children.

Safe Families for Children began in 2003 striving to engage families via faith communities to open their homes to care for vulnerable children. We share their desire to help families before a major crisis hits with the hope that we can keep families intact, minimize children entering foster care, and reduce abuse and neglect.

Please RSVP to Linn at lnash@parksidechurch.com so that we can plan for our food needs.

Parkside Church Westside
They thank God for a wonderful summer filled with fellowship and developing relationships. They continue to be encouraged by their faithful members and regular attenders, as well as by the many new faces that visit Parkside Westside. They have been blessed with a growing Children’s Ministry and are grateful for your prayers for additional volunteers who have stepped forward to help them with their staffing needs. They continue to ask for prayer for the Lord’s wisdom and guidance regarding more permanent facilities for their church home. Thank you, as always, for praying with them and for them.
