- Details: Please pray for the Mam people as the pandemic grows in intensity in Guatemala. Their indigenous colleague, Byron, lost his father-in-law to the virus in late July. Pray for healing and hope in the Lord. Central African Republic (CAR) (Africa). Population: 5,340,353 Believers: 32.3%. Widespread evangelism in the 1960s and 1970s yielded massive numbers of converts but a shortage of disciples. This has slowed the momentum of growth and is evident in the following challenges needing prayer: a) Widespread nominalism and syncretism. b) Denominational rifts hold back cooperative efforts. c) The failure to make discipleship a top priority also means that high moral standards and honesty are frequently lacking in the churches.
