Supported Worker: Mark & Patti Bean
Countries: Peru, United States of America
Details: Pray that those students who heard Mark and Patti speak at a Christian high school recently would be motivated to consider missions. Please pray for their Quechua colleagues who are doing a lot of legwork getting ready for the arrival of the Bible now being printed. They are traveling to towns and villages inviting pastors and their congregations to attend the dedication of their Bible this summer. Their colleague, Wilmer wrote that when he spoke in the church at Yanas, first an older woman and then the pastor broke down in tears crying with joy at the news that the Bible was finally in their own language. Thank God for the months of home assignment, with only part-time work. Mark began working full-time again May 1. Japan (Asia). Pray for the specific challenges facing the Church: Christianity is still regarded as an outside Western religion and often churches look more like the introduced Western culture than the 21st-century Japan; Christians are a tiny minority in a society where consensus and conformity is important; unity is lacking among the churches; traditions and forms of worship have been elevated to be as important as the Bible itself; church attendance is low; too few viable and active congregations; and the lack of men in the churches.
