Praying for the Field

"Strive together with me in your prayers to God for me." Romans 15:30

Missionaries need intercessors more than admirers. They need prayers more than donors. They live and work in the enemy's territory and become the special object of Satan's attack. Support your missionaries by praying for them.

August Prayer Needs

August 1– Kathy Maenner, Bolivia

Pray for Kathy as she returns to her regular ministry schedule after a month of traveling and “winter” break. Pray that she is able to get a discipleship group started with some of the adolescent girls and that she will use her time well.

August 2–Joe & Brenda Ziska, Austria

Praise that Joe's PSA test is 0.05. Praise also for good results for his brother Mark after carotid surgery. Praise for the workers God raised-up to cover ministry needs while Joe and Brenda are here in the USA. Praise that God is giving good times of sharing during Home Ministry. Pray for them as they speak at churches in Cincinnati and Mentor on August 3 & 10.

August 3–Scranton Road Bible Church

Praise for an excellent soccer camp. Pray for follow-up as we seek to reach everyone with the gospel. Pray for Eloy Gonzalez as he works in directing the youth ministry. Pray for perseverance in waiting on the Lord regarding the building process that God will lead and direct. Praise for a teaching position for Jeremy in Maple Hts. High School.

August 4–Mark & Patti Bean

Praise for great responses in the 30+ villages visited in May and July by their Quechua co-workers: Felipe, Walter and Wilmer. Many people made decisions for Christ and others renewed their commitment to Him. Some villages were without pastors who had fallen away, moved away or quit due to discouragement. Pray that God will raise-up godly men in these villages to teach God’s word. Praise that these trips were underwritten by Parkside. Pray for the people and situations they encountered.

August 5–Kep & Debbie James, Bolivia

Pray for the 17 ESI (Equipping Servants Internship) groups, as they encourage and help pastors and church leaders to learn to think, live & serve biblically. Currently 250 men are involved. Pray for the 15 new groups that will start soon. Pray especially for Pastor Jaime Cruz who will be traveling 6 hours one way each week to take ESI to the city of Potosi.

August 6–Jeffrey & Katherine Robinson, Germany

Praise for the chance to attend the GEM annual conference in Hungary August 6-11. Pray for safe travel and for encouragement and a refreshing time with fellow missionaries. Praise for the many preaching opportunities Jeffrey has this summer. Pray for his sermon preparation, as he will continue to preach at least once a month this autumn.

August 7–Mike & Joan Ross, Mexico

Please pray for continued safety in flying, especially as this is the rainy season when the mountains that separate Oaxaca from communities being served are often cloud-covered. Pray for wisdom in deciding whether or not it is safe to fulfill flight requests. Pray for Mike as he trains Juan Carlos who just returned from a year’s furlough in the USA.

August 8–Alternaterm

Praise God for the success of the outreach event held in July; pray that God will maximize the connections made as a result. Several attendees have expressed an interest in volunteering, and representatives from some new churches have now learned about the services offered at the center. Please pray for enthusiasm and good attendance at the meeting of church liaisons scheduled for August 16.

August 9–Kathy Maenner, Bolivia

On August 10, in Bolivia, the government has called for a vote of confidence for the President and the governor of each department. Pray for the Lord’s will to be done in Bolivia and for wisdom as to how we, as a church, as Christians, and as missionaries should respond.

August 10–Wes & Nancy Collins, Peru

Pray for CILTA second semester classes that begin August 18. There are 14 students (their largest class) registered. Pray that the studies would go well and the student's faith would sustain them. Pray for two new faculty members to have a great experience balancing issues of academics and faith.

August 11–MIke & Cindy Yurkovich, Czech Republic

Pray for Hannah as she settles at Kent State this month, for her relationship with her roommate and finding a campus fellowship that will sharpen and encourage her. Pray that Rachel will be able to complete driving requirements before returning to Prague at the end of August. Pray for Michael as he preaches twice in August and keeps oversight of the church in Prague during the senior pastor's summer absence.

August 12–Jeffrey & Katherine Robinson, Germany

Praise that Emily is learning much about the film industry as part of her summer program. Pray for safety in her travels as visits are made to points in California and also Washington, D.C. She returns to Elon on August 15 to resume her studies.

August 13–Delhi Bible Institute, Northern India

Praise God for identifying and raising-up 20 men equipped by DBI to go out and see unbelieving people in Northern India become committed followers of Jesus Christ. Pray for their protection and that God would use them and their families to preach His Word and build churches and spread the Gospel in Northern India.

August 14–Missionaries to a Muslim Country

Praise for growth in their friendships with local nationals, and pray that the relaxed summer schedule of many will provide further opportunity for deepening relationships. Pray for this for the children also. They ask for increased intimacy with their heavenly Father, and that their new friends will see Him in them.

August 15–Mark & Patti Bean, Peru

Pray for Eric as he returns from his ministry in East Asia today and leaves for Miami University August 19. Pray also for Ernie as he leaves August 19 to attend the University of Hawaii. Classes for both sons will begin August 25. Pray for Mark and Patti as these will be difficult “good-byes”. Praise for the housing and vehicle provided by Parkside that allowed them to be in Ohio for this transition year for their sons.

August 16–South Africa Project

Pray for Johannes Thaele as he plans for a camp for boys to discuss being young men according to the Word of God. Pray for safety as he travels and that God will bring much fruit from his efforts. Pray for God to bless his marriage. Pray for Gojene Letebele, a confused 14 year old boy, that God will change his heart. Praise for the openness of the children in Bolokanang to hear the Bible.

August 17–City Mission

Pray for the needy 300 men and women in our Ohio prisons to be reached for Christ in our ministry through chapel services and one on one interaction.

August 18–Pastoral Assistants, Bolivia

Pray for Edgar Mamani for growth in the Mallasilla ILC church plant. Pray for Juan Cardenas to grow in ability to encourage those he works with and in giving oversight to the P.A. program. Pray that Sergio Saravia will develop a true heart of humility and convictions about thinking Biblically. Pray for Pato Ruiz to be used in shaping the lives of orphans he works with according to God’s Word. Praise that God is using Jacob Sanchez’s studies in Romans to help him be an effective expositor of God's Word. Pray that God will use Lucho Kama to help believers follow the Lord wholeheartedly as he ministers to churches in Taca.

August 19–Edgar Rivera, Mexico

Please continue to pray that God would provide leadership for the Children’s Home Ministry so that Edgar can concentrate his time and efforts on evangelism and discipleship in the Amoltepec churches. Pray for a smooth transition as Edgar hands over day to day administrative responsibilities for flight operation to Juan Carlos who has just returned from furlough. Also pray that the adoption paperwork for their youngest daughter, Ester, would be finalized soon.

August 20–Bobby Puckett, Taiwan

Pray that his change in schools (job) will be good and that he will have opportunities to talk to his students about Christ. Pray for follow-up of 40 boys at a military high school who prayed to receive Christ following a short term ministry team from Arkansas. Pray that God will enable Bobby to use his time wisely. The Mormons are very active in Bobby’s area. Pray that God would reveal His Truth to those living in darkness.

August 21–Jeffrey & Katharine Robinson, Germany

Praise for warm relationships developing with employees and patients at the prosthetic center. Pray for H. who lost his leg when a motorist hit him while riding his bicycle. Pray for wisdom concerning whether or not to move forward with the Lost For Words translation project.

August 22–Mike & Joan Ross, Mexico

Please pray for their son Ben and his family as they settle into the Cleveland area and as he begins a Sports Ministry major at Malone College this fall. Pray for their son Aaron as he transfers to Akron U. to finish his major in International Business. Pray for God’s direction in his life regarding employment and housing opportunities.

August 23–Kep & Debbie James, Bolivia

Pray for Heather as she starts working this month in a discipleship ministry at Highlands International School. Pray for Katie starting nurse’s training at Kent State U., and pray for Andrew as he begins his senior year at Taylor University.

August 24–Mark & Patti Bean, Peru

Praise for the opportunity to go to see Andy and Rachel in Okinawa, Japan on August 26 and meet their new grandbaby. Pray for safe travels and good family time. Pray for them as they transition back to their work in Peru after working from the US for a year. This will be their first time returning to Latin America with no kids and they do not know the next time they will see them.

August 25––Kep & Debbie James, Bolivia

Pray for Pepe Rocha, ILC senior pastor, to have wisdom for leadership and ministry. Pray for the ILC elders: Saul Flores, Lucho, Juan and Edgar. Pray also for the elders in training: Jaime Rodriguez, Saul Arias and Jose Franco. Pray for Debbie and the women's ministry. Praise for growth is the lives of the 11 women involved in ESI for women. Praise for the 3 pastors’ conferences held in Bolivia last month. Pray that the 700 who attended will ground their thinking & ministries on God’s Word.

August 26–Joe & Brenda Ziska, Austria

Praise God for opportunities at Parkside Church to share what God is doing in Austria through GEM and for the housing and vehicle that Parkside has provided. Continue to pray for housing as they look forward to ministering in Bellevue, Washington in October. Praise God for providing a vehicle there for them to use.

August 27–MIssionaries to a Muslim Country

Pray that they will not become discouraged in their efforts. Pray for continued progress with the language this summer, and pray for wisdom and success in helping local believers to start businesses. Please continue to pray for good progress in the book they are writing for their own business platform.

August 28–Delhi Bible Institute, Northern India

Pray that Isaac Shaw and the team at DBI will be God’s servants and continue to equip converted Muslims, Sikhs and Hindus to preach and teach God’s Word.

August 29–Jeffrey & Katherine Robinson, Germany

Pray for wisdom as they consider a number of evangelism/discipleship events and concepts to experiment with this fall. Pray that they will know who to invite to the initiatives and how best to implement these ideas.

August 30–Wes & Nancy Collins, Pery

Pray for their Peruvian son-in-law, Yury, and daughter, Elisa, as they wade through the paperwork that needs to be done to bring Yury's documented status up to his legal status.

August 31–Mike & Cindy Yurkovich, Czech Republic

Cindy will either be teaching an English conversation class or having several one-on-one meetings with Czech university students this Fall. Pray for God's sovereign leading and direction.
