Crossroad Bible Institute

is a Bible instruction and education ministry, primarily directed to prison inmates. It provides written Bible lessons to students, who return them by mail to the Crossroad headquarters in Grand Rapids, Michigan. The lessons are distributed to and graded by volunteer instructors at local churches - including Parkside - who have been trained by Crossroad.

Crossroad Bible Institute has been involved in this ministry since 1984. Parkside Church has had an active group of instructors since 2001.

How You Can Help

Volunteer as a Crossroad Instructor
You will receive detailed instructional materials to familiarize yourself with the Crossroad program and its goals and procedures.

Submit an application form to Crossroad, including a letter of recommendation from a member of the Parkside pastoral staff.

After your application is approved
Pick up one or more lessons each Sunday
Grade and correct these using the answer sheets you will receive from Crossroad
Write a one-page letter of encouragement to the student.
Mail the corrected lesson and letter directly to the student. (As an instructor, you always remain anonymous.)
Report the student's score to Crossroad by e-mail, phone, or mail.

Many instructors at Parkside Church have found this is a rewarding way to be involved in sharing the Gospel with seekers and discipling young believers, in a non-threatening and effective way.
