People of Parkside

After 2-1/2 years of attending Parkside Church as a back-row, in and out, sermon listener, as a un-believer, I tempted fate to further submerse myself into the Christian world. In the summer of 2004 I decided to see what this “transit ministry” thing was all about. As with the church services, my attendance was regular, but my situation was still that of an introverted back-of-the-room attendee. You may ask then, what was the draw to involve myself to the teachings in which I hadn’t yet entrusted my faith. Well the answer is simple; God created us in His image and in His likeness in order that we may have a personal relationship with Him. I may not have known what this was, but I did know I was without it. It was more than year later, in the winter of 2005 that I finally gave my life over to God.

With the continued learning of the Word and the significant encouragement for spiritual growth through fellowship with my peers at transit, I truly came to understand the meaning of God’s Grace and the subsequent salvation we have in faith in Jesus Christ. As a compliment to the Parkside Church body, the transit ministry has opened up various opportunities to serve, worship, learn and grow. Fellowship and small group study offers accountability, support and friendship while allowing and encouraging you to grow with God.

I would encourage anybody to become involved with the ministries under the guidance of Parkside Church. At transit we desire to attract and build up young adults in a certain age range but recognize we are one part of a larger whole. The larger church supports us as we contribute with her. Our mission statement mirrors the statement of the church and our vision is to help build up the kingdom of Christ long term in this specific locality. Ultimately, we see transit as a beginning point of involvement among the whole of Parkside, not an ending point.
