SeniorsXYZThe desire of this ministry is to provide a comfortable environment for people 55 and older to gather and enjoy the company of one another. This group of Seniors who have Xtra Years of Zest center their meetings around a potluck dinner and a message from a speaker. These events are ideal for bringing friends, relatives, work associates, and neighbors to see the body of Christ and hear the message of the gospel. XYZ fellowship dinners occur five or six times through the course of the year. Contact Joyce at jtroupe@parksidechurch.com for more information. Our PurposeTo see believing seniors become committed to service within Parkside Church so that unbelieving seniors will become committed followers of Jesus Christ. Our PlanPrayer In Ephesians 6:18 we are told, "Pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the saints." We endeavor to accomplish this through the Prayer Warriors, a group of seniors committed to daily prayer for the salvation of the lost, the spread of the Gospel, the direction of church leadership and the needs of the members. Encouragement Hebrews 10:24-25 says, "Let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds? encourage one another and all the more as you see the Day approaching." The Barnabas Ministry encourages the saints who are hurting, bereaved or celebrating a new birth with cards and notes. Fellowship Hebrews 10:25 also says we should, "?not give up meeting together?" XYZ (Xtra Years of Zest) is a way to fellowship with other believers and to reach out to unbelievers who are 50 years and older (singles, couples, widows and widowers). We gather together several times a year at 6:30 p.m. on Friday evenings in Fellowship Hall for meals (potluck or catered), guest speakers or performers, and Christian fellowship. Our VisionTo evangelize, equip and engage as many seniors (50+ years old) for service as the Lord allows. To allow seniors to use the gifts that the Lord has given them in the areas of Prayer, Encouragement and Fellowship for the honor and glory of the Lord Jesus Christ. Psalm 56:13 "For you have delivered me from death and my feet from stumbling, that I may walk before God in the light of life." To fill, brief or long, my granted years of life with love to Thee and man. Strike when Thou will, the hour of rest, but let my last days be my best. Come join us in service. |
