Sundays and Beyond

What to expect on a Sunday

Our church family is comprised of young and old with a mixture of many ethnic backgrounds. Dress tends to be business-casual, but there is always a mixture of ties and blue jeans. We have three identical morning worship services with a different evening service every Sunday. A variety of classes are offered for children and adults during our second and third morning services. We also provide nursery care for infants through toddlers in all of our morning and evening services.

Sunday Morning

Services (8:30am, 9:45am, 11:15am)

Services are one hour in length with twenty-five minutes of praise and prayer and thirty-five minutes of preaching. A member of our pastoral team will lead the time of worship that includes singing, reading of the Scripture, prayer, and giving of our financial resources. Our music is a blend of old and new and we use a variety of instruments to aid us in our praise of God. We aim to sing songs that turn us towards God, are full of theological truth, and exalt Jesus Christ. Another member of our pastoral team is responsible for the preaching of the Bible. We have a practice of teaching through a book of the Bible from beginning to end by examining the original meaning of the text and how it applies in our lives today.

At the conclusion of our time we encourage individuals to enjoy conversation and a cup of coffee in a large room that we call the Commons, which is connected with our book store, café and has many comfortable seating areas. We also have a visitor reception area in the Commons where members of our pastoral team are present to welcome those new to Parkside and answer questions after the second and third services.

Sunday Evening

Service (7:00pm)

We call our evening gathering Sundays at Seven. It is a series of studies, from four to eight weeks in length, which deal with life from a biblical perspective. It is an opportunity to worship with music and a message that are different from the morning services. It is also during these church family times that we share in communion and the baptism of professing Christians. It is a wonderful way to end our day of praise in the company of God's people.

And Beyond...

It is our sincere desire that every person who comes into contact with Parkside become a committed follower of Jesus Christ. Our hope is to achieve this objective through evangelizing, encouraging, equipping and engaging the people of Parkside and the surrounding community.

Evangelism is exposing the surrounding community to the message of Jesus Christ. We challenge our people to be ready to give an answer for the hope that they have found in a personal relationship with Jesus. This requires that they live in such a manner as to give off the fragrance of Christ at school, at work, at home and in the community.

Encouraging biblical friendships is an important part of the life of our church body. God did not design us to be alone. We believe it is important for us to create an environment that is conducive to building Christ-centered meaningful relationships. It is often through our relationships with others that we are able to experience the love of Christ.

Equipping the people of Parkside with the tools to mature in their relationship with God is essential to our task. As our people grow in their relationship with God they will learn to better reflect Christ-likeness in their daily routine of marriage, family, work and community life.

Engaging in the life of the church is important for the spiritual maturity of all believers. We want to provide opportunities for our committed people to be actively involved in ministering to one another. Our goal is to develop a mindset of spiritual multiplication.
