Snow Days

It’s December 14th and as Pastor Dan Southam looks out his office window (I don’t have one) he doesn’t see snow anywhere. But I know that it’s coming. We're in Ohio. And if there’s one thing I know about snow, it’s this -- snow means skiing.

I love to ski. Fresh powder, great views, and admittedly, I like to ski fast. But my favorite part of skiing usually involves the people I’m with. Some of the most fun I’ve ever had has taken place on the side of a mountain (or in northeastern Ohio, on the side of a hill). My friends and I spend the day skiing, laughing, and spending some quality time talking while we ride the chairlifts back up the slopes. Good things happen on the chair: friendships are formed, laughs are shared, and conversation just happens. Those experiences are some the great things about being on the ski slopes.

So, if you are a middle school student, I hope you’ll join me and 100 of my friends on January 21-22 for Mogul Mania 2012: one day at Splash Lagoon water park and 1 day at Peak n’ Peak ski resort. Or, if you're a high school student, join Dan Southam and the Student Impact crew on January 28-29 for 7SR: two days of skiing at 7 Springs Resort.

Not a skier or snowboarder? That’s okay! There will be games, movies, and some hot chocolate in the lodge. Don’t believe me?  Dave Schillero went with a broken arm last year and came up with this little musical gem.

So we hope that you’ll come join us and make some new friends, or maybe bring a friend along.  It’s a great weekend of fun and an opportunity for them to hear a little about who Jesus Christ is.

Hope to see you on the slopes,
