In May, the Reverend Dr. John Dickson, noted speaker and historian and one of this year's keynote speakers at the Basics Conference for Pastors, presented conference attendees and Parkside's church family with his thoughtful and thought-provoking teaching on the essential elements for doing the work of an evangelist.
In his new book, Humilitas: A Lost Key to Life, Love, and Leadership, Dr. Dickson sets forth his thesis that true greatness and genuine fulfillment can only be achieved by recognizing the virtue of true humility. By defining humility as "holding power loosely for the sake of others," Dr. Dickson posits that humility is essential for turning one's gifts and strengths into true greatness in all areas of life.
On a recent Sunday at Parkside, Pastor Begg commended Dr. Dickson's book by adding, "I'm delighted that [John] has chosen to pick up the topic because it runs counter to so much that is suggested as a key to usefulness in Christian service."
