A holiday glimpse of the Green Campus

The holidays are closer than we want to believe… and Parkside Green Campus is getting geared up to celebrate the time with friends, family, and neighbors.  Here is a glimpse into activities that will provide opportunities for fellowship, sharing the Gospel, outreach and service to the community, and, of course … fun!

Thanksgiving Bag Collection and Delivery  –  The collection and delivery of Thanksgiving food bags took place on Saturday, November 21. Over 100 bags full of Thanksgiving food were delivered by members of Parkside, allowing the opportunity to talk with the families in need of help. This opportunity comes at the end of the “Six Steps to Talking about Jesus” course that has been the focus of the men’s and women’s studies for the last six weeks.   Many were able to hand out food and able to talk about their faith in Jesus.

Christmas Cookie Exchange – The Women’s Ministry event in December will be a Christmas Cookie Exchange on Wed., Dec. 2 at 7:00 p.m. at the church. Hundreds of homemade cookies, warm candlelit atmosphere, a few silly games, and chatting are the draw, so what’s not to like?  This has become a very popular annual event for both members and guests!  All the ladies from Green and Bainbridge campuses are invited, so please RSVP to greencampus@parksidechurch.com , bring 6 dozen cookies, and join us!  If you don’t bake, let the grocery store do your work for you (… or just come empty-handed), because you won’t want to miss it.

Drop and Shop – This holiday outreach event is a day of free babysitting offered to parents (of children ages 3 and older) in the Green area who need to finish holiday shopping without the “help” of their children.  It’s appropriately called “Drop and Shop” and happens on Sat., Dec.  12 from 9:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m.  The day includes crafts, movies, inflatables/bouncy houses, games, a juggling entertainer, lots of food, and even a visit from Santa!  It’s a busy day and an awesome outreach to meet our neighbors.  Many children attended last year when Parkside Green Campus was brand new, so we look forward to seeing how many more join us for the day this year.  (By the way, we are still looking for a few adults to fill volunteer slots, so please contact the church office at 330-899-1232 for more information if you are interested n helping out for a couple of hours.)

Christmas Eve Service –  There will be a Christmas Eve service on Dec. 24 at 6:00 p.m.  Pastor Scott Kennedy will be joining the Green Campus for a family evening of music and scripture. This year an art show will feature local children’s glimpses of Christmas.

Parkside Playgroups, Young Marrieds, and Young Families ministries  –  will meet for holiday events during the month of December. The younger ministry groups are a vital part of the Green Campus and Christmas is the ideal time to focus on (and sugar up) the children of Parkside and their guests!

If you attend the Bainbridge campus, have you visited the Green Campus yet?  With all the holiday opportunities available, please consider coming down for a visit and getting to know us better. To those who live in the Akron area or further south, you might even see what’s so special about the Green Campus and choose to join us as several families from the Bainbridge campus have already done. With the growth that we are being blessed with, there is a place for you to serve!

Merry Christmas from the Green Campus!
