The Thanksgiving Box Project
Est. 1986
The Thanksgiving box project started about 23 years ago when a pastor from a church in downtown Cleveland asked if Parkside Church would collect groceries for his church families in need. That first year we collected about 25 bags of food. The project has since grown as a partnership with Scranton Road Bible Church located on the near west side of Cleveland. Many people give of their time and resources to keep the Thanksgiving Box Project going. We now collect around 300 complete Thanksgiving dinner meals.
Into the Neighborhood
On Saturday, Nov. 21, a group from Parkside Church will load two U-Haul trucks with the boxes that have been collected and travel up to Scranton Road Church. There they will join with the Scranton Road Church members, and Pastor Joe Abraham, to start deliveries to families and friends in the neighborhood nearby. During the next two hours not only are the boxes and turkeys delivered, but lives are touched in a very personal way. The contacts made from this project lead to many opportunities for the Scranton Road Church family to share the love of Christ to the people in the neighborhood.
