Adam recently joined the pastoral team as a campus pastor for Parkside in Green. We recently sat down with him to get to know him a bit better.
How did you come to faith in Christ?
I was raised in a Christian home and belonged to evangelical churches from my earliest memories. Though on the outside I was moral and participated in Christian services through my teen years, I did not come to faith until I was a junior in high school. It was at a summer camp when the gospel was clearly articulated and I came to understand that being clothed in the righteousness of Christ was the only way to have eternal life. From that point on the Lord began to change my heart from wanting and loving sin to wanting and loving to please Christ.
How did you meet your wife, Christina?
I met my wife while leading worship at a summer camp at Taylor University. A mutual friend introduced us one night and our journey together began there. Christina is from Chicago and as they say, “distance makes the heart grow fonder.” After about six months of enduring a long distance relationship Christina decided to move to Ohio and attend Malone College. Nine months later we were engaged and the rest is history.
What are you most excited about as Harvest in Green becomes part of Parkside?
I am most excited to see unbelievers become committed followers of Jesus Christ in the Akron and Canton area. The city of Green is near to my heart because it is my hometown and to know that a Bible teaching church will be established, the gospel will be proclaimed, and lives will be changed, is beyond all I could have thought or imagined.
What are your primary responsibilities as Parkside expands to the campus in Green and how might you assist individuals in their daily Christian walks?
I currently give general oversight to middle school and high school ministries as well as lead the college and career ministry. I also oversee the missionaries, Sunday morning and Sunday evening services, and I lead music at our services. On Sunday night’s Jonathan Holmes and I share time preaching and I also do the weddings and funerals. The best way I can assist others in their Christian walk is to point them to Christ. We can point others to Christ by encouraging them to walk daily with Lord by reading and mediating upon God’s Word and by praying.
What are ways that individuals can be involved in the ministry areas you oversee?
We always are looking for people to serve in many different ways. We are always looking for people to disciple and encourage our students. Our music ministry is need of gifted musicians and singers. As we begin to establish Parkside Church, Green Campus we will be in need of children’s ministry workers, Life Group leaders, and the list goes on and on. We pray that this place will become an every member ministry where we are all serving together and meeting the needs of one another.
What’s one thing people would be surprised to learn about you?
I am ordinary…no real surprises from me!
How can Parkside be an encouragement to you and your family?
Parkside has already been an encouragement to my family and I cannot thank the elders, pastors, and members of Parkside enough for their sacrifice and love over this past year. I look forward to meeting as many Parkside family members as possible and hope to be of some value to them.
