More than a 3-ringed “circus”
Last week five rooms in the translation center had five different things going on. That’s not counting Mark’s office.
Two rooms were busy with comprehension checking: one for Huamalies-Dos de Mayo Quechua and the other for Margos-Yarowilca-Lauricocha (MYL) Quechua. In another room Leoncio was entering edits to some chapters in Isaiah. Two other rooms were used for recording the MYL New Testament.
The book storage room (with some mattresses and 
imagination), became the “sound proof” recording studio. A neighboring room had the technical team along with other speakers waiting their turn. They watched and listened to be sure the person re-cording didn’t miss a syllable, word or intonation. Meanwhile, Mark ran around making sure everybody was keeping busy, besides his own work. God’s word is getting out!
New progress
This month the new progress on the chart is one new green box (Song of Songs) and one new purple box (Lamentations). Technically, Song of Songs shouldn’t be green until a couple more days if you get this by email. But, I couldn’t resist coloring it in.
Some perspective on progress 
It is very exciting to see so much green on this chart. But to help put it into perspective for you, those four books that are left, Isaiah, Jeremiah, Lamentations and Ezekial 
together are just a tad longer than the entire New Testament! Isaiah alone has 66 long chapters. I may re-do our chart temporarily like we did while translating Psalms so you can see that progress is still being made. Otherwise, there won’t be much to color for a long while.
Our goal is to have the chart all green in an-other year and a half. Then, we will do a fi-nal read-through of the Old Testament and revise the New Testament.
This chart shows OT translation progress for all five participating Quechua languages. The goal: have everything colored green! Stage One: prepared for the workshop. Stage Two: adapted, checked and edited. Stage Three: community tested.

Specifics to Pray About
• Tomorrow another Old Testament workshop starts. Last workshop Timoteo found himself alone working on the Huaylas Old Testament, since his partner, Enrique, took a full-time job. This time Pushpi will join us to help Timoteo. Like Timoteo, Pushpi also worked on their New Testament so he has experience already. He will be taking time away from promotion and evangelism to help in translation again.
• This workshop will end Thursday April 7th, a day earlier than usual so that everyone has time to make it home in time to vote in the national elections on Sunday the 10th.
• April 23rd Mark will be speaking to a group of pastors here in Huanuco about translation. A burning issue many have is why the Quechua translations don’t look exactly like their traditional Spanish translation. Pray for open minds and hearts to really listen.
• I (Patti) didn’t get to hear all the VBS teachers give their reports a couple weeks ago. The road was closed. My Peruvian partner did not want to hike up in the mud with her child, and I really didn’t want to either. I’m so curious to hear how the classes went!
