A very, very special Christmas
This Christmas we made a trip from Peru to visit our kids. Our first stop was Del Rio, Texas to visit our oldest son Andy, his wife Rachel, and little Jeremiah.
Then we made our way to Ohio, where our other three children met us. We got to stay in the same house we’ve used before so it really felt like “home.” Plus, a church lent us a car and filled the refrigerator for us. We had so much fun.

Plugged in again
The December Beans’talk never made it to press. It was more complicated without Inter-net in the house. And, besides, I was happy to give all my attention to family. Now, I’m plugged into the world again!
Vacation Bible School
Thank you for praying for the four people who took the VBS training here in town. Hercelia, Lucy, Susana and Francisco must have done a pretty good job passing on what they learned even though their first teacher-training up in the village almost didn’t hap-pen. A landslide kept Lucy from arriving on time with all the materials she was bringing from town. She pressed on by foot and even-tually made it. One pastor showed up to the training with seven high schoolers. Awesome! In the end, instead of four teams as originally planned, they formed six teams. Half of them plan to teach VBS in 5 consecutive days while the other three teams plan to teach VBS one day a week for five weeks in the villages they’ll hike to. Each team is committed to teach VBS in two different villages. Some are already talking about continuing during the school year in yet other villages. They started the week of January 10th.
Prayer Requests
• Pray for the six teams teaching VBS for the very first time. Pray that the churches see this as an outreach to their community, not just a special occasion for their own children.
• February 8–26th is the next Old Testament workshop. Again we will travel over to Huaraz, a day away, and meet there. Mark’s been preparing Nehemiah and is now working on Daniel.
• Continue to pray that we might identify some new men to join the translation process. We are overflowing with gratitude at God’s goodness towards us.
YOU are part of that!
