Counseling

How People Change

Have you ever struggled with how to help a friend in need or finding the words to comfort a family member dealing with a crisis?  You are not alone!  Many people in the church feel unprepared and fearful to offer words of wisdom or counsel to those in need.  Perhaps you yourself are dealing with spiritual, emotional or physical issues and desire to know what God’s Word says about spiritual growth and the process of change.  This course is for you.  How People Change is an exciting and practical course designed to help the average church member put their faith into action.

We will study the intricacies of the human heart and see the beauty of the gospel and occupation with Christ that transforms daily life in a real and tangible way.  In depth biblical discipleship is about relationships- with God and with others.  How People Change will give you the tools to understand the change process in your own life and be better able to help others experience spiritual growth in their lives.  We will be encouraged to look at our own hearts through the lens of God's Word and learn to rely more on God's many forms of grace.  This will enable us to step out in life with renewed faith and courage.

This course is required for all those who are interested in lay counseling at Parkside Church. However, anyone involved in ministry whether as  a Life Group leader or Bible study facilitator would be encouraged to take this course.  This course is open to the public as well.

How People Change is offered once a year typically in the early Spring.  The format is 12 sessions spread over 3 Saturdays (4 sessions each day, 9 am - 2pm) Check the website for details or email us at parksidecounseling@gmail.com to be added to our event mailing address. Scholarships are available for those not able to cover the cost of the training.
