Book Recommendation: ESV Reader's Bible

Is Less Really More?

For most of us, the Bibles we use are filled with verse and chapter numbers, footnotes, and cross-references. We might even have maps, summaries, commentaries, and historical references, all designed to help us study Scripture. Indeed, we need the verse and chapter numbers to follow along in a church service.

But what if all we had to read was the primary text? With Crossway’s ESV Reader’s Bible, God’s Word is presented in the format of a standard book -- a single column of paragraphs separated only by book titles. In this form, the Bible reads like a novel and one that you can’t put down.

Both book formats have their places and fulfill different needs, but the Reader’s Bible helps eliminate distractions and displays the text clearly, beautifully, and simply. Reading the Bible this way, free from cross-references and footnotes, is a surprisingly exciting way to experience God’s Word.

You can pick up your copy of the ESV Reader’s Bible or the ESV Reader’s Gospels at Books by the Park. For more book recommendations to help you build your personal library, please visit our website.
